Frome Film & Video Makers was formed in 1974 as the Frome and District Ciné Club. All the present members use video, but occasionally the film projector is brought out for a nostalgic trawl through the archives.
The club meets almost every other Thursday from January to November, but not usually August. December is set aside for our presentations and Christmas dinner. Meetings start at 19.30 and usually end at 22.00.
We have always been keen on making films of local interest. We are currently archiving to video our library of local interest ciné film.
Our Frome Five Minute Festival should not be confused with the Frome Festival which an arts festival - ours is a competition open to non-professional movies makers for films of five minutes or less. AKM Music have generously provided us with a cup for this event.
We regularly meet with other local clubs for competitions and instructional evenings, and exchange visits with clubs as far away as Weymouth. Clubs further a field exchange tapes with us. Currently we are establishing links with Northside Camcorder Club in Sydney, and the Wollongong Camera Club in Australia.

The Club is affiliated to SoCo the Southern Counties Region of the IAC The Film and Video Makers Institute
